DupFinder app & getdupfinder.com · Last updated: 7 August 2026 · Deutsche Version

The short version: the DupFinder app collects no data. Not anonymized data, not "only metadata" — nothing. It contains no networking code, so it is technically unable to send anything anywhere. Its App Store privacy label reads "Data Not Collected."

1. Who is responsible

DupFinder is a product of TechNow GmbH, Immanuelkirchstraße 34, 10405 Berlin, Germany ("we"), registered at Amtsgericht Berlin-Charlottenburg, HRB 252101 B, represented by managing director Dariush Franczak. Contact: projects@tech-now.io.

2. The app: no data collection

Everything DupFinder does — scanning, hashing, comparing, compressing, deleting — happens locally on your iPhone. Specifically:

  • No account, no sign-in, no user profile.
  • No analytics, no tracking, no advertising SDKs, no crash reporters.
  • No network access of any kind — the app contains no networking code.
  • Photo library access (which you grant through iOS) is used solely to scan and, on your explicit confirmation, delete or compress items. Deletions go to iOS "Recently Deleted" and are recoverable for about 30 days.
  • The optional diagnostics log stores only counts, byte totals, and permission states on your device — never photo content or names. It leaves your phone only if you actively export and share it.

Because no personal data is processed by us, most GDPR obligations (access, erasure, portability) have no object: there is nothing stored with us to access or erase.

3. The App Store

The app is distributed via Apple's App Store. Apple processes download and, where you have opted in, aggregated usage statistics under Apple's own privacy terms. We only see aggregated, anonymous numbers (e.g. downloads per country).

4. This website

  • Hosting: the site is served by GitHub Pages (GitHub, Inc.). GitHub may process technical connection data (such as your IP address) in server logs to deliver the site — see the GitHub Privacy Statement.
  • Analytics: we use GoatCounter, a privacy-respecting counter that uses no cookies and stores no personal data — it counts page views with anonymized information. No consent banner is required because nothing identifies you.
  • Cookies: the site sets no cookies. A single localStorage entry remembers your language choice (EN/DE) on your device only.

5. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have rights to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection regarding personal data, and the right to complain to a supervisory authority (for Berlin: Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit). Since the app collects nothing, these rights practically apply only to email correspondence you send us, which we keep only as long as needed to answer you.

6. Changes

If the app ever changes what it processes (it would say so in the App Store privacy label first), this policy will be updated here with a new date.
